Happy 40th me!!

So today is the day I’ve officially climbed the proverbial hill and am supposed to go over it!! I had many plans for this day. Been planning for it since I turned 39! It was supposed to be my big day. My plans ranged from booking a mini-vacation and go sky diving(you don’t cross a milestone every year do you??) to kissing dolphins to taking the kids out for a Le Petit Chef meal. I planned to lose 40kgs and thought I’d bring in my birthday with the best possible version of me. Even my cake was planned-it was supposed to be a pink champagne cake topped with macarons(my favourite!) I was to get 40 helium balloons and take happy pictures. It was supposed to be a bittersweet yet happy day! But instead, I welcome my 40s with uncertainty, not knowing where I’m going next or what I’m going to do. I welcome my 40s looking as fat and frumpy as ever and in my XXXL pyjamas LOL! There is an old Yiddish adage that goes “Mann Tracht, Un Gott Lacht” simply put it means Man plans and God laughs! He must have been laughing for quite some time no? But then again they also say that “The best things in life come unplanned or unexpected” so maybe this was just what I needed! A pandemic to just STOP!! Stop planning, stop overthinking, and just take life as it comes. Happy birthday to me! I welcome my 40s and shall await to see how life unfurls its surprises on me.I welcome my 40s with a fat yet healthy body that allows me to walk, run, do plank jumps, pick up ridiculous weights, and not let me down despite my poor eating choices. I welcome my 40s with my beautiful babies by my side, my 2 gems who make my heart sing with joy and light up my life with their kisses and hugs and patience. I may not be the best mom but I certainly have the best kids (sorry not sorry for what may come across as a biased opinion!!) and I will NOT let my life slip away because of a microscopic organism that shares its name with a pale lager. May I celebrate my life now more than ever and may the celebrations continue even long after.
